Abstract
Orbicular granites are unusual rocks, and the presence of a large outcrop within the Mazatán metamorphic core complex, Sonora, Mexico, was unexpected. This is the second orbicular rock outcrop recognized in Mexico, after the San Pedro Mártir gabbro in Baja California. Sierra Mazatán is the southernmost metamorphic core complex in the northern Cordillera, which resulted of Mesozoic crustal thickening, followed by Tertiary extensional tectonics… in order to continue, download the full paper in PDF.
